MainTitle

Rum Hot Chocolate

500mls milk
100gms bittersweet or semisweet
best-quality chocolate
1 cinnamon stick
2 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon brown sugar,
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons dark rum, or to taste (opportunity?)

Method

Pour milk into a saucepan and break chocolate into pieces then add to the milk with a cinnamon stick, honey, and sugar. Heat gently until the chocolate is melted.

Add the vanilla and mix with a small hand whisk; still whisking, add a spoonful of the rum first and taste to see if you want more (now here's a good opportunity!) and add more sugar if you want it sweeter. Take out the cinnamon stick and pour into 2 cappuccino or latte cups. Yum!

History - Chocolate how would we survive without it?

Today, chocolates of every description are legal, unscheduled and readily available over the counter. Maybe chocolate is a healthy drug?. Some 50% of women reportedly claim to prefer chocolate to sex! More than 300 different constituent compounds in chocolate have been identified. Chocolate clearly delivers far more than a brief sugar high.

A small study suggests that eating dark chocolate can lower your blood pressure - a delicious instance in which something that tastes good might, for a change, be good for you, too.
Dark chocolate contains three times as much cacao as milk chocolate and so the concentration of phenylethylamine and polyphenol is high. The first substances increase the heartbeat and releases feelings of well-being. The distribution of serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline are also increased, which makes you feel more cheerful. And polyphenol protects the cells from free radicals.
